Important Update to the ID Policy for all Theory Test (including CPC Step 1 & 2) exams

The Public Services Card (PSC) is acceptable as identity confirmation for access to the Driver Theory Test Service (DTTS). It may also allow you access to the National Driver Licence Service online and postal applications in the future.

From 20 August 2018 there will be an option to use other forms of identity documentation at the test centre.

At the time of booking the test, applicants will be asked to confirm that they possess a valid form of ID from the list below:

  • Cárta Seirbhísí Poiblí
  • Pas (bailí fá choinne taisteal idirnáisiúnta amháin nó uasmhéid de dhá mhí déag as feidhm)
  • Cártaí Pas Éireannach
  • Cárta Aitheantais Náisiúnta ó Bhallstáit AE/LEE nó ón Eilvéis
  • Ceadúnas Foghlaimeora Chatagóir B (Carr) nó Chatagóir A (Gluaisrothar) nó Láncheadúnas Tiomána Éireannach

Applicants must ensure they bring the valid form of ID to the testing centre to be presented in advance to sitting the test.

Applicants will need to ensure that the spelling of the name in which they book their test matches exactly the spelling of their name on the ID.

Theory Tests can be taken at 43 test centre locations around the country as part of the RSA’s driver testing and licensing process.

Test Category C & D Candidates

In addition to the identification requirement detailed above Test Category C & D Candidates must also bring with them:

  • Ceadúnas Foghlaimeora Éireannach reatha Chatagóir C nó D
  • Láncheadúnas Tiomána Éireannach reatha Chatagóir C nó D (nó ó bhallstát AE/LEE nó ón Eilvéis)
  • Láncheadúnas Tiomána Éireannach reatha Chatagóir B (nó ó bhallstát AE/LEE nó ón Eilvéis)
